The word on the street is that there are five different brainwaves that operate in the brain and they have different characteristics.
Beta brainwaves are associated with concentration, cognitive thinking, and alertness.
Alpha brainwaves are associated with creativity, calmness, and relaxation.
Theta brainwaves are associated with deep meditation.
Delta brainwaves occur during sleep and are associated with regeneration and healing.
Then comes gamma brainwaves that are associated with peak performance and expanded consciousness.
Whichever one is most active during day-to-day life will greatly influence what we think, how we feel, and how we act.
In our everyday lives, beta brainwaves are the predominant force. They help us to drive cars, attend work meetings, follow schedules and recipes, and do the million and one other tasks that our modern lifestyles require. They’re great for analytical thinking and problem solving but they’re not so conducive to creativity.
So, to drop from our everyday beta brainwave activity to a more calm, alpha state, a different way of being is needed.
The good news is that it can happen fast. By simply engaging in a few simple activities, suddenly a more relaxed and creative energy can start to flow.
