When Stars Come Out to Play

When the night grows cold,
Stars come out to play
But what happens if they lose?
Do they go away?

Will they tuck us in tight,
Or stay up high like thieves in the night?
Shall I thank them for their work,
Or feel weary about how they lurk?

Kiss me on my nose
Turn my cheeks the color of rose
Ignite my heart and make it warm
Dust off cobwebs and protect me from this hailstorm

I’m sorry I doubt you and your ability
Sometimes it’s easier to live in disbelief
To be filled with so much hostility
Not let myself feel any relief

I feel like life is a bit overwhelming for most of us right now. Everything feels so fast-paced and I’m constantly trying to play catch up. I often don’t notice the little things that make me happy. Recently I’ve been getting into photography a bit more by just snapping a quick picture of nice scenery or sunset with my phone camera. What I’m trying to get at with all this vagueness is please don’t lose the things that make you happy. Of course, you might have lulls when you are busy dealing with other, more pressing, things. However, it is so important to create happiness for yourself, to allow yourself to indulge in activities that make you happy.

Whether that’s buying a coloring book and letting yourself get that 64-pack of Crayola crayons you always wanted, finally finishing the book that's been collecting dust on your nightstand, or binge-watching a Netflix series. Please don’t say you “don’t have time” for the things that make you happy. Your happiness should be your utmost priority. Do not run yourself dry of your happiness reserve. Look up and take an extra glance at the tree that a dog just pissed on next to you. Breathe in the smell of fresh urine (could come from a human or an animal?) and don’t let life pass you by. You have the power to control and slow it down.

This is getting so long and I don’t want to keep wasting your time but there are people that love you and if you think no one does, I still love you. Enjoy your life while you can ❤
