The SPE Sponsors Workshop on Slim Hole Drilling and Completion

With roots that date back to 1957, the SPE endeavors to collect and disseminate technical oil and gas production knowledge among its 158,000 members and beyond. One of the organization’s recent events was a workshop on drilling small-diameter boreholes.

The SPE workshop “Slim Hole Drilling and Completion — The Way Forward” took place from May 7 to May 8 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It pointed to slim hole drilling as an effective way to lower the overall cost of oil/gas exploration and production.

Attracting a range of engineers and technical specialists as well as petroleum-sector managers and academics, this workshop shared a diversity of emerging technologies and established connections between numerous industry focal points.
