AMD The New King??!!

The endless battle of the best CPU has always gone to the blue team. It has always been superior in all aspects like gaming, workstation, and just overall desktop experience. Then it happened, Ryzen was unleashed on the world. A consumer grade CPU line that gave us not just 4 cores but 6 and 8 cores. The other huge blow was the price. AMD was converting Intel fan boys faster than ever.

Yes there were drawbacks, Ryzen did not out perform Intel in terms of gaming. That was not the goal though it was to shake up the industry and create an all around better CPU. Ryzen was great for gaming and content creation. Anything from streaming on a single PC to rendering YouTube videos. The fact you could get both things from one CPU lit a fire under Intel’s ass. Oh let’s not forget, all Ryzen CPUs came out the box with unlocked multipliers as well. Intel required you purchase the K SKUs to overclock their chips.

Now that it’s been announced Ryzen 3 will be headlining Computex, the big question is-how much info will they give us? There have been rumors that Ryzen 3600 and 3600x will be upgraded to 8 cores 16 threads and their flagship 3700 and 3700x are anticipated to have 12 cores 24 threads. The chart below by TomsHardware shows what the Ryzen 3 chips could be like.

If this is evidence of what is to come, then Intel better strap in. There will be a new king of CPUs and its AMD. They will be on top until Intel can figure out their 10nm technology to propel them ahead.

Intel’s rumored Comet Lake will only keep Ryzen 3 at bay for so long. Comet Lake is another 14nm slightly better performing chipset that will not be groundbreaking by any means. Intel leaks show they will have a 6 core and 10 core variant of this new Comet Lake chipset. The chart below shows us the two chips. Let’s just pray they bring back hyperthreading and don’t charge the price of someones first born for it.

The release of Ryzen 3 is to be expected this summer 2019. Intel’s Comet Lake release date is still unknown for the most part. It can be assumed it will not be far behind Zen 3 for sure.
