Ted Lasso Cured My Bitterness

A show I initially wrote off ended up giving me hope for happiness in everyday life

When I first heard of of Ted Lasso, I disregarded it as another feel good sports comedy/drama that wouldn’t do anything new and wasn’t worth my time. Even after attempting to watch the first episode I found the show formulaic and uninspired. It took me a second attempt at watching some weeks later that I found myself dumbfounded at how very wrong I was about this wonderful show. The very formula that I found dull and overplayed, suddenly brought me comfort and tranquility. Rebecca hopes that by hiring someone with no experience in coaching a team like her’s, will lead to the downfall of Richmond and be the ultimate revenge on her ex. Only, she doesn’t count on the chance that she might just grow to love Ted Lasso and his infectious optimism.

While being happy go lucky about everything all the time can be a problem when it comes to facing some of the very real and tragic events that happen in life, there is something about Lasso’s outlook that struck a cord with a lot of people in the awful year that was 2020. The audience, just like the characters in…
